The Gospel of Reason by Gregory Coffin

As Jesus walked amongst men to advance the Gospel Truth, so does Arenos walk among men to advance an objective, yet secular standard of the Good. Through numerous interactions, Arenos meets individuals and experiences situations that test existing systems of thought and beliefs. From examining sacred political and religious Goods, The Gospel of Reason looks at how some of those Goods are proper, and how some are not, and why.

The Gospel of Reason was written in response to so many people advancing ‘the Good,’ but having divergent definitions of it, as well as paths of pursuing it. This divergence of definitions happens in politics, as well as religion. I offer this as a way to help people sift through the various interpretations of the Good in order that people may be able to find it themselves. Two sayings exemplify the importance of the issue: give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day; teach a man how to fish and he’ll eat for a lifetime; and: build a man a fire and he’ll be warm for a night; set a man on fire and he’ll be warm for the rest of his life. There are those already out there who advance ideas that will lead the rest to salvation or damnation. It becomes The Gospel of Reason against the State of dogma.
